LINKING THE WORDS TOGETHER....

When speaking, we join or "link" words to each other, when you are saying. The words in a sentence do not always sound the same as when we say them individually.

There are basically two types of linking:

•   consonant > vowel
We link words ending with a consonant sound to words beginning with a vowel sound

•   vowel > vowel
We link words ending with a vowel sound to words beginning with a vowel sound

Without the word stress, some native English speakers will find difficult to understand what you are saying, and you may not understand what native speakers, especially the ones that speak fast, are saying too.

We usually use different intonation, which means force, strength to say the words in English.

Basically there are two very important rules to help you with your pronunciation:

•  One word, one stress!

•  The stress is always on a vowel!

There are others rules about pronunciation, a little complicated than this two, but to get it start to good to watch this two for now! We will go over the other soon...

Always remember:  English is not "phonetic".

Some words can have the same spelling but different pronunciation.

Examples:  read
